MISSION AND PHILOSOPHY

The Washington Islamic Academy (WIA) mission’s is to facilitate the personal develop of every Muslim in order to they fully utilize their talents to benefi t themselves, their families and all of humanity. The Academy seeks to help Muslims learn, love and live their Islamic values and morals. This mission is based on the philosophy of Islamic education where individuals are responsible for their actions, and knowledge is sought to help them realize the great bounties of Allah and to worship Him in the ways that are most pleases.

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
  • Learn, love and live Islam in everyday life.
  • Developing a strong Muslim identity, based on the Qur’an and Sunnah, in order to build the self-confi dence and perseverance.
  • Sharpen critical thinking skills, ingenuity, and motivation to excel in academic and professional careers.
  • Teaching Muslim children to be good citizens by developing awareness of their role in their local communities and the society at large.
  • Ensure that Muslim children excel in learning and demonstrate excellence of performance on Standards of Learning as mandated by the Department of Education.
  • Building a model in moral education.
  • Helping Muslim students develop decisionmaking skills, stimulate intellectual curiosity, and prepare them to become leaders for the future.

Curriculum

Washington Islamic Academy (WIA) utilizes Fairfax County Standard of Learning (SOL) and Public Schools Curriculum with innovative educational materials, resources, and teaching techniques. Our curriculum incorporates specialized daily Arabic, Qur’an, and Islamic Studies classes.
